Dr. MBG and his Lamborghini Fleet!
Welcome to another edition of our LFM Spotlight series and we are happy to introduce you to Dr. MBG, an owner of two Lamborghini vehicles, including the world renowned “LambOrion” Performante!
Dr. MBG’s passion of automobiles and aeronautics started at a really young age and what other car company that looks and flies like a jet on the roads other than Lamborghini. After buying his first Lamborghini, he wanted one that not only dominated tracks like the Nurburgirng, but also fused his interest and love of aerospace. The LambOrion was in full effect, then came along the impeccable Murcielago!
This insightful interview shows the passion and the thrill to drive these beautiful machines. Dr. MGB also leaves an inspirational message for others to plan in order to live your life with the fullest!

1) When was your first exposure with a Lamborghini that inspired you to get one?
Like many, my first exposure to a Lamborghini was as a child when I saw the infamous poster of the red Countach. I dreamt about that car because it looked like a cross between an automobile and an airplane – and as a child I was a lover of all things aeronautical. I always hoped that someday I’d have a car like the Countach.
2) What made you get the Lamborghini Huracan and Murcielago?
I bought my first LP-610 after reading and researching the car at length, and taking it for a test drive. The car looks aggressive, has incredible throttle response, and quickly made me feel comfortable (and perhaps overly confident) that I could drive it hard. An incredible car that I absolutely had to have. Since then, I have upgraded to the Performante and it delivers even more excitement than the 610! A truly amazing track car built for the road. It also didn’t hurt that for a time it held the Nurburgring record for a road car – another reason to want to own one.
Unlike the Huracan, the Murcielago was the car that replaced the Countach as my all time favorite flagship Lamborghini. The shape and body lines are timeless in my opinion, and the V12 is the best sounding of any I have heard. I have wanted one for years, and when I found a car with only 2,600 miles on it (!), and a gorgeous spec, I had to own it. The Murcie is already a classic and I suspect it will increase in value in the coming years, but I’m not interested in ever selling mine.
3) What are your favorite aspects about your Lamborghini cars?
I think the heritage of the brand coupled with the uniqueness of the designs, make Lamborghini’s stand out. There are more expensive Super/Hyper cars, but in my opinion many of these “come lately” brands don’t have the history and heritage that make established brands distinctive. I’ve never run into anyone who doesn’t know what a Lamborghini is. The designs created by Lamborghini can’t be confused with any other brand, the lines, the wings, the ducts and vents, and of course, the doors on the V12 flagships! And the most important part, the naturally aspirated engines that are the heart of the car and give Lambo’s their sound and fury! Who doesn’t love that?
4) How many times a week do you drive your Lamborghini vehicles?
I try and drive my cars at least once a week during driving season here in CT (which is usually mid-March until December). I don’t take them out once the roads are polluted with salt and sand after the first major snowstorm. I’ve also taken the Performante on a rally, so I’m not afraid to get out and really enjoy these cars. I own the cars with the intent of driving them – no garage queens here!
5) If you have to choose, which Lamborghini(s) is(are) your all time favorite(s)?
That’s a really tough question. Of the flagship V12’s, I like in order: Murcielago, Countach, Aventador, Diablo, Muira. Of the V10’s, I like the Huracan most, then the Gallardo. I’m not as crazy about gated manuals as some, although I appreciate their rareness and the engagement of driving stick. Of the many special editions, I love in order, the Sesto Elemento, Reventon, Veneno, and Centenario. And if I had to own just one, I think it would be a toss up between the Huracan Performante, Reventon, and Sesto. Of course let’s not forget the record setting SVJ!! Let’s be honest, who can pick just one??
6) You are known in the Lamborghini community owning the one and only “LambOrion”. Where was the inspiration with the unique wrap?
The Lamborghini Orion Nebula, or #LambOrion, represents the combination of my lifelong interest and love of aerospace, and the car that feels like a spaceship when you sit in it. As a child, I grew up wanting to be an Astronaut – I had posters of planets, moons, galaxies, rockets, and space stations in my bedroom. I eventually went to college and graduate school studying mechanical and aerospace engineering, and went to work in the aerospace industry. Unfortunately, the cold war had ended and US spending on aerospace was in decline, so I ultimately ended up changing careers to pursue something with greater opportunity. But my love of aerospace never waned, and today we have a small gallery of space art and aerospace hardware in our home. The LambOrion was created from a fantastic image of the Orion Nebula (the nearest star factory to Earth) taken by the Hubble telescope, and enhanced by the incredible design work of @skepple. I love it, and for me it is the embodiment of two of my childhood dreams.

7) To anyone who wants to own a Lamborghini, what would you say to them?
I’d give the same advice I give my 3 children – stay in school, work hard, and be planful. A large part of my success can be attributed to my education which taught me how to solve complex problems for a living. That coupled with tenacity and a willingness to work hard to achieve my dreams – were the keys to success. And lastly, being planful – I didn’t buy my cars until I had achieved a level of financial security that made it possible without taking away from my family or my own future. Not the “get rich quick” advice most want to hear, but it is the way that the majority of people I know who are financially independent got there.
Thank you Dr. MBG for this interview and sharing your experience!
